Prof. Dr. Fabian Beck is assistant professor for computer science at the University of Duisburg-Essen since end of 2016. He studied computer science at the University of Trier and defended his doctoral dissertation at the university’s software engineering research group in summer 2013. He has worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Stuttgart Visualization Research Center (VISUS), an internationally renowned institution for data visualization.
His research aims at making complex data accessible and understandable for users, software engineers, or scientists. In interactive data visualizations that integrate algorithmic solutions, skills of humans and computers complement each other. A seamless integration of the visualizations into existing tools and documents is paramount. In general, his research interests cover information visualization and visual analytics. Software visualization is a focus, where results of these research disciplines are applied to support software development.
