Requirements Management as the Basis for Software Quality

Systematic Requirements Engineering (RE) is one of the most important disciplines in software development. Practitioners and scientists will discuss the best possible RE approaches from March 18-21 in Essen.

For the 25th time, REFSQ, Europe's leading requirements engineering conference, will discuss approaches, processes and tools in requirements management. Among other things, the conference will address the following questions: How can we determine the wishes and visions of customers? How can we ensure that specified requirements are realized? And how can companies manage knowledge about requirements?

Dialog between Science and Practice

In addition to scientific discussions, experts from various industrial sectors will report on requirements management in their companies. For example Robert Karban from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In his keynote speech, he will discuss requirements analysis and verification in the development of a gigantic 30-meter telescope currently being set up in Hawaii. Also interesting is the "Natural Language Processing (NLP) Deep Dive". Here, tool manufacturers are facing a challenge in capturing and computer-based processing of natural language.

Looking Back and into the Future

Well-known pioneers of requirement engineering will present due to the 25th anniversary of REFSQ: Prof. Dr. Anthony Finkelstein (Chief Scientific Adviser for National Security of the British Government), Prof. Dr. Kevin T. Ryan (Founding Director of the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre lero) and Dr. Peter Peters (Partner at McKinsey&Company) take stock of the last 25 years of requirements engineering. It will be exciting to see what we can learn for the future of software engineering.

The REFSQ (Intl. Working Conference on Requirements Engineering) is regularly organized by paluno. Besides Dr. Eric Knauss from the Technical University Chalmers in Göteborg, Prof. Dr. Michael Goedicke from paluno is part of the programme chair this year. He is looking forward to the open discussion culture, which is typical for REFSQ: "REFSQ is exactly the right platform to discuss approaches to solve the growing demands on requirements engineering.”

In addition to the lectures, there will be a doctoral symposium and numerous workshops at REFSQ.
