Virtual Multimedia Conference MUM 2020

From 22. -25. 11. 2020 the Human-Computer Interaction Working Group will host the “19th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia. ” Originally planned in Essen, the event takes place as an interactive virtual conference due to corona.

The International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia (MUM) is a leading annual international conference, which provides a forum for presenting the latest research results on mobile and ubiquitous multimedia. The conference brings together experts from both academia and industry for a fruitful exchange of ideas and discussion on future challenges.

MUM 2020 will be opened by Pattie Maes with the keynote "Enhancing Human Cognition". Pattie Maes is a professor in MIT's Program in Media Arts and Sciences and runs the Media Lab's Fluid Interfaces research group, which aims to radically reinvent the human-machine experience. Coming from a background in artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction, she is particularly interested in the topic of cognitive enhancement, or how immersive and wearable systems can actively assist people with memory, attention, learning, decision making, communication, and wellbeing.

Jürgen Steimle, Professor of Computer Science at Saarland University, will give the final keynote on “Augmented Materiality” at MUM 2020. In his lecture, he advocates making materiality a central issue in the design of interactive systems. He will show how the interaction of form, material and the human body can create a variety of interaction possibilities. This is illustrated by examples from his work with contact interfaces, interactive objects, e-textiles and interactive skin.

All information about the conference and the possibility to register can be found on the official conference website: http://www.mum-conf.org/2020/
